10 actionable ways to trade HIGH for low impact goods - part 2

You're ready to go the extra mile for the planet. But how do you make the least impact?♻️🌍
We have talked about the categories with the biggest toll on our home environment in part 1. And you can read here what we do to limit our impact as a sustainable wall art photography business.
Now let's discover how you can put them to GOOD work!
1. Things/items/stuff: the keywords here are: refuse it, reduce it, repair it and second hand it. In that order. Now put "can I" in front of each one.
2. The car: the production of an electric car vs mechanic is just as harmful. The difference you can make here is: limit your kilometers (🚌🚈🚴♂️), sharing your car and using it 'till it can't roll no more.
3. Housing: about 17% of your house's impact was needed to build it. Choosing sustainable materials helps! Insulation is important, but did you also think of choosing green providers for utilities?
4. Eating meat and fish: probably the easiest is limiting your daily intake. If you want to eat some, choose organic, wild and from small farmers.
5. Holidays by plane: take the train, Blabla-car, Flixbus, ... within Europe. You have many options, just check what's out there! It is such an easy way to travel. Slower and more relaxed.
6. All vegetable food and drinks: help biodiversity by shopping with organic small farmers. They do not have to be from your own country. The distinction is in the way they are grown and the use of recourses, not that much in their transport or packaging. (Again, see part 1.)
7. Clothing and textiles: slow fashion, second hand, homemade or clothing swaps with friends. Consult a fair fashion guide/directory to help you.
8. Dairy and eggs: there's such a huge toll on chickens and cows from the industry😢. Swap for plant-based successors or have eggs from your neighbours' chickens.
9. Personal care in the bathroom: natural or vegan is not always free of chemicals. Be mindful about that. If you can't pronounce the ingredient, you probably don't want it on your skin either. Slowly swap your single use items for reusables.
10. Public transport: you could opt for PT that uses renewable fuel. Or walk and cycle for a small win. Overall, you're already an absolute champ for using PT instead of driving or flying!
